About Justin Crane (Owner/Operator)

From Environmental Science to Exceptional Craftsmanship

Before founding Accolade Painting, I spent more than two decades managing scientific and environmental programs for federal agencies like the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). My background in environmental science, project management, and Lean Six Sigma process improvement taught me how to combine precision, organization, and quality control - skills that now shape everything we do at Accolade.

I approach each project the same way I’ve approached every major program in my career—with clear communication, meticulous planning, and an eye for continuous improvement. A Craftsman with Character

Outside of work, you’ll probably find me playing tuba with The Little German Band & Dancers, paragliding above the North Carolina countryside, sailing at Jordan Lake, climbing at the Triangle Rock Club, running on the trails at Umstead or around Bond Park, or working on my vintage 1977 VW Bus. These passions reflect the same values I bring to my business - creativity, precision, problem solving, a balance or art and science, strategic thinking, and a love for things built to last.
